Biography
Samantha Hammond is the founder of a community-centered health, safety, and preparedness organization in Stewartstown, Pennsylvania. As a registered nurse and educator, Samantha has provided in-home care, gaining an intimate understanding of the real-life consequences stemming from the shortcomings of a poorly integrated health system. Witnessing unnecessary suffering fueled her deep commitment to enhance community health, which ultimately led to the establishment of Care First Education LLC. This organization aims to significantly improve population health in vulnerable communities over the next two years.
To fulfill this mission, Samantha offers education and support for health conditions that disproportionately affect local and national communities alike. The current curriculum includes the Diabetes Prevention Program, Diabetes Self-management Education and Support, and mental health support for teens through the Blues Program. Training programs aimed to enhance community safety and preparedness include certification courses such as First Aid, CPR, AED, Stop the Bleed, babysitting training and more. Community members who visit our website or learning center have access to free preparation, planning and training resources for the whole family.
Samantha volunteers with the Red Cross disaster health services team, assisting individuals in meeting their disaster-related health needs. Care First Education LLC is a member of the Pennsylvania Business Emergency Operations Centers Trusted Partner Network, facilitating the flow of disaster, resilience, and preparedness information between the public and private sectors. Additionally, she volunteers with the York Literacy Institute, helping aspiring nurses overcome language barriers to achieve their goals, enhance diversity in the workforce, and improve patient outcomes.
