In this session, we’ll break down what a Destination Marketing Organization is—and what Explore York, your local DMO, actually does. From promoting events and attractions to supporting small businesses, we create meaningful impct across York County. You’ll learn how tourism drives real economic benefits and discover ways you and your business can tap into the power of our local visitor economy.
Melissa Beaverson is the Vice President of Marketing & Communications for Explore York, the official tourist promotion agency for York County. She oversees a team of seven and is responsible for membership, marketing strategy, branding, and PR/communication efforts. An experienced leader and hospitality marketing professional, Melissa is passionate about cultivating professional relationships and bringing people together to collaborate on projects.

Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Melissa moved to Hershey, PA, in 1999 to work for Hershey Entertainment & Resorts. Melissa holds a BA in Communications & Public Relations from Oakland University.
An avid golfer and fitness enthusiast, she is also an NASM-certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor and has taught fitness classes for 20+ years. Melissa enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband Chris, their 15-year-old son Zack, and their friendly Boxer named Dexter.
